Update: A Dozen Used Laptops Donated (and Counting)

Six weeks into EGBOK Mission’s latest project. Twelve used laptop computers ready for their second wind.

That’s incredible. Thanks for your support.

In early February, word went out to the EGBOK Mission community that several students in computer classes were working hard to keep up with their classmates. But for some students, it could be difficult to find a computer to use outside of class, so the competition had the edge.

Starting next month, EGBOK Mission volunteers will start to carry over the first few laptops we have received from thoughtful volunteers. Those laptops have arrived from Seattle, Boston, New York City, Chicago and Texas. Once they reach the students’ hands, Microsoft Word and the entire suite of programs used to manage a front desk won’t rest.

Many students say they also plan to use the used laptops to practice their English with computer courses by Rosetta Stone.

If you have a used laptop that works well — one that you’d like to see live on to help students improve their chances of earning a job in the hospitality industry — consider donating it to EGBOK Mission. Keep ‘em coming, and thanks!

How to Donate Your Used Laptop

If you have a second-hand or new laptop you would like to donate, send us a note at info@egbokmission.org. In the subject field, fill in “Your name, your city”. Be sure to read the details at the bottom of this page before donating.

Once we receive your e-mail, you will receive a reply with additional instructions about laptop collection.
