EGBOK Mission is devoted to connecting young adults with their potential as hospitality professionals. The students we work with often lack an understanding of the different jobs that make hospitality businesses run, yet many economies thrive on these service organizations. We bring the industry to them through education and training. We do this in a few ways:

We Teach

Through classes focused on different aspects of the hospitality industry, we engage students and motivate them to learn the ins and outs of service professions. We work with teachers and students in hospitality classes and related hands-on learning, providing an introduction to potential opportunities in the industry and perspective on the global industry and what it entails. We Train

Through demonstrations and practice, we work on a range of skills needed for hospitality work, always stressing the overarching service standards that the industry expects. We address many aspects of the business, including hotel check-in procedures, restaurant service and etiquette, computer skills, English language where it applies, driver training and culinary classes, among others. We Host Guest Speakers

Our guests range from travel agents to finance professionals who students can connect with firsthand. These lectures provide students with the opportunity to explore different careers and ask questions about the speakers’ careers and life experiences, not to mention the chance to meet new people and begin to establish professional networks they can reach out to when the time comes. We Take Tourism Trips

Our tourism trips bring curious students to different destinations, enabling them to learn about the places where they live and beyond. Most students we work with have never traveled, so we give them a crash course in the value of travel to their native museums, monuments, parks and other tourist sites. Our goal is to show what their locale has to offer, and to prepare them so they can communicate with tourists and provide educated and thoughtful service. Learn more about our tourism trips.

We Take Hospitality Trips

On hospitality trips, students can see and experience hospitality organizations firsthand. We emphasize the final product by giving students the chance to experience service through these outings so they can see it at work. We also introduce places like the kitchen, laundry and engineering facilities, spas, hotel rooms and other areas where students can see what goes on behind the scenes and the work that takes place in these areas. We Prepare

In fully preparing students for jobs, we aim to cover all the skills they will need in order to achieve the next step, whether that’s applying for a job or university program or continuing training. With students, we work on applications and resumes, as well as college preparation, career counseling, interview skills and job placement counseling. Our goal is to expose students to every aspect of the process so they are fully prepared, and to assist in each step of their transition to employment. This preparation continually emphasizes strong community outreach. We constantly encourage service and volunteer opportunities. We stress the importance of giving back – it’s why were here and it’s what we value. While students benefit from our training and education, we also prepare them to be responsible working young adults who share the value and enjoyment of providing service through service.
